CHANGE

You may be wondering how I facilitate change in my work with clients. Let’s think of the neural connections in the brain as roads we travel on, leading us to specific thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Some roads are well-traveled, like highways with established lanes that we are quick to jump on and utilize. These are the familiar thoughts, feelings, and behaviors your brain readily connects you to, and for some, they lead us to stuck, frustrating, isolating places within ourselves. These connections often don’t lead us to change, and because of this, we direct our care and attention elsewhere. I am interested in the brain's less-traveled roads/neural connections, which can lead us to untapped capacities and capabilities for positive change and growth. I focus my attention and curiosity here, applying skillful care, discovering what happens when we don’t get on the highway and take the backroads instead. I will tell you from experience that it is always worth the trip!

“Inviting our thoughts and feelings allows us to learn from them rather than be driven by them.”
